Etched Recycled Windows, LEDs, 2020- The etched imagery depicts the anatomical layers of a corn snake: the front panel is the skin, the center panel is the skeleton, and the farthest back panel is the organs of the snake. As snakes shed their skin, they are a symbol of transformation and healing.
Available with wooden base for displaying on a flat surface or chains for hanging.

Etched Recycled Windows, LEDs, 2020- When the COVID-19 pandemic began, it quickly became necessary to accommodate my process to one that required extremely little funds or machinery. I found people who had replaced the windows of their home and were throwing away the old ones- I ended up with quite a substantial amount of recycled windows. I’m mesmerized by how the aesthetic quality of veins mirrors that of tree roots and branches, as well as the physical attributes that protect my heart.

Etched Recycled Windows in Wood Frame 2020- As someone who struggles with chronic migraines, I sometimes find myself forcing smiles and refraining from visually expressing the pounding in my head. This self-portrait illustrates how people perceive me based on my appearance and how that differentiates from what I’m experiencing internally. The x-ray serves as a lense for this internal vision.

Etched Recycled Windows 2022- The transformation of natural forms takes many shapes and sizes.
The life-cycle of trees and the way that they communicate and support one another even after they die continues to inspire my work.
oil on canvas 2023- This painting is about nature’s reclamation of man-made objects and spaces. I find inspiration in nature’s sheer determination to thrive despite obstacles, however human activity causing climate change may be detrimental for many species. I hope that one day we can live in a world where humans live in reciprocity with the land.
oil on canvas 2023- This piece depicts a memory of my experience in the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was living in downtown Oakland, California at the time that the shelter-in-place and essential business mandates went into place. The street that my roommate and I were riding our bikes down was entirely empty with the exception of ourselves and a trepidatious deer that had wandered in from the forest. Throughout all of the chaos of the pandemic, nature was given the chance to heal for a moment.
Oil on canvas 2023- I wonder what would have come of our unoccupied man-made creations if the pandemic had continued to confine people indoors. I can imagine that the once bustling office buildings and storefronts may gradually fall into disrepair. Meanwhile, nature could have seized the opportunity to reclaim its space. The contrast between human absence and nature's resurgence highlights the delicate balance between humans and the natural world, emphasizing how quickly the environment can heal when given the chance.

oil on canvas 2023- Footprints represent a journey already undertaken, someone who has hatched from their shell and ventured out into the unknown. They serve as a symbol of personal growth, resilience, and the path we each forge in our lives. Do you follow in the footsteps of those who came before you, or forge an new path that is full of uncertainty and perhaps unseen wonders?

This illustration was one of the seeds that inspired the Unpleasantly Beautiful series. It marks the beginning of my exploration into internal and external perspectives in addition to using windows as a metaphor for looking inward.
